Outer Space
For my winter art show I created a body of work in the theme of outer space. The reason I choose this is because space has always been very interesting for me. I have always wanted to learn more about space. I made a pink rocket, yellow stars, and a bowl of space. I've always loved looking at the stars when I was younger so I added those in. I've made a pink rocket because I wanted the pink rocket to stand out, and pink has always been my favorite color. I made most my pieces on the wheel, but I had to hand build some pieces too. For the stars I used a cookie cutter to make the star shape. I made the bowl on the wheel. The rocket was the hardest part. I made it on both the wheel and hand built. I threw the vase on the wheel but had to hand build the legs on the bottom of the rocket. After I made my pieces I glazed each one a different color, so no piece was similar. The stars I glazed yellow, for the rocket I used pink for the body and black for the legs, lastly I used a dark blue and a light green glaze to create the space color. I wanted my artwork to each express a different piece that goes into space.
